TIPS: WINTER to SPRING TIME

Emergency Preparedness is something we all need to think about. When a disaster strikes are you prepared for your pets too? Here is a quick list of some items you can use to start your own Emergency Preparedness Kit for your pets:

* minimum 3 days supply of bottled water and pet food

* portable water and food bowls

* paper towels and a can opener

* pick up bags for your pet's 'elimination'

* medications with a list identifying reason, dosage, frequency, and contact information of prescribing veterinarian

* medical records including vaccinations

* leash, harness

* muzzle if required

* blanket and favorite toy

* up-to-date ID tag with your phone number and the name/phone number of your veterinarian

* current photo of your pet (preferably with you) in case they get lost or separated from you

* copy of the license

* large ziplock type bag for all papers, records, and photos

This is just a start. You can definitely find more things to add for your loving furry family member. In the heat of the moment you may not be able to think clearly or fast enough. Start now and avoid as many extra hassles as possible...
